More than 7,000-page chargesheet filed in Kotkapura firing case, all accused are out on bail: Pannu

Jakhar has no moral right to question us, as the Akali-BJP government suppressed the investigation and sold the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission report like scrap paper: Pannu

Chandigarh, July 10 :

Responding to the recent press conference by Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar, Aam Aadmi Party leader Baltej Pannu said that Jakhar’s statements are absolutely baseless and unfounded. A political leader should speak responsibly and present facts. He should not deliberately spread misinformation.

Baltej Pannu said that Sunil Jakhar is claiming that the Punjab government has done nothing for the past 29,000 hours in this case. So, for his information, I will send him all the facts so that next time he can tell the truth of the entire matter.

Pannu stated that in the Kotkapura firing case, a chargesheet of more than 7,000 pages has been filed. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Sumedh Saini, Paramraj Singh Umranangal, Charanjit Sharma, and others are currently out on bail. Their bail was initially cancelled by the Faridkot court, and later they secured bail from the High Court.

Pannu further said that the party Sunil Jakhar currently represents was in power at the time these incidents took place. The Akali government did not even accept the report of the Justice Zora Singh Commission. Later, when the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission submitted its report, copies of that report were sold like scrap by Akali Dal members, and the BJP supported it as they were coalition partners in the government.

He added that the challan in the Behbal Kalan case will also be filed very soon. In the Kotkapura firing case, the Punjab government never exerted any political pressure on the SIT, which is why the investigation has reached this stage. The AAP government is committed to ensuring justice for the Sikh community.
