CA GMADA Orders Strict Sanitation Measures and Upkeep of Infra in GMADA-Developed/Allocated Sectors

Sector-Wise Officers Deputed to Oversee up-keep of infrastructure, Public cleanliness and Overall sanitation in various sectors

Taking serious note of complaints regarding inadequate up-keep of infrastructure, Public cleanliness and overall sanitation in various sectors in GMADA-developed sectors, Chief Administrator of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA), Mr Vishesh Sarangal, has deputed JE Level officials to ensure regular upkeep across all such sectors.

Emphasizing the importance of sanitation, Mr Sarangal stated that it is GMADA’s responsibility to maintain cleanliness in the areas developed by it. “No leniency will be shown towards officers or employees found neglecting their duties,” he asserted.

     Designating Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, Additional Chief Administrator-2, GMADA, SAS Nagar as the Nodal Officer for ensuring Upkeep of Infrastructure, Public Cleanliness and Overall Sanitation in the allotted urban estates/sectors of GMADA, he said that the Junior Engineers posted in the sectors of GMADA shall ensure regular inspection and monitoring of the roads, green belts, and other public infrastructure within their jurisdiction. They shall also coordinate with the sanitation service providers and submit regular reports on the status of cleanliness and upkeep to the above-mentioned Nodal Officer.

     Issuing detailed internal orders to GMADA staff tasked with sanitation and infra related operations, the Chief Administrator warned that any future complaints about poor maintenance will be dealt with strictly, and disciplinary action will be initiated against those found negligent.

He further explained that several areas in Mohali lie outside the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation and fall under GMADA’s purview. Therefore, it is the Authority’s duty to manage sanitation and other essential services in these sectors.

Sectors 81, 84, 85, and 86, Aerocity, Sector 90, 91, 92, 92 alpha and 93, IT City, Sector 87, 88, 89, 94, 95, and 96, Sector 97, 98, 99 and 100, Sector 101, 102, 103 and 104, Sector 104, 105, 106 and 107, Sector 108, 109, 110, 110 and 112, Sector 113, 114, 115 and 116, Sector 74 alpha, 117, 118, 119 and 120, Sector 121, 122, 123, 124, 125 and 126, New Chandigarh, Sector 1, 2, 3, 4,5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18,19,20,21,22 and 24 fall in GMADA’S jurisdiction.

CA GMADA made it clear that GMADA’s role goes beyond just developing and selling plots. “We are equally accountable for resolving post-development issues like cleanliness and infra related, which directly affect residents’ daily lives,” he added.

Reiterating the Punjab Government’s commitment to citizen welfare, he said, “As per the directions of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, GMADA will treat issues related to basic amenities as a priority and will act promptly to improve the situation wherever needed.”
