In a major enforcement drive to ensure road safety and regulatory compliance, the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Mohali, Rajpal Singh Sekhon conducted a special checking operation across multiple routes in the district, last night. The drive resulted in the issuance of 12 challans, amounting to a total penalty of approximately Rs 6 lakh.
The violations included tax evasion, overloading, and other breaches of the Motor Vehicles Act. The enforcement team targeted commercial vehicles found flouting transport norms.
RTO Mohali stated that such drives will continue in the coming days to deter non-compliance and strengthen safe transport practices in the region.
The Transport Department has urged all vehicle owners and operators to ensure proper documentation, payment of taxes and adherence to permissible load limits to avoid penalties and ensure public safety.
