District Magistrate Mrs. Komal Mittal has strictly directed that firms registered under the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation (PTPR) Act, 2012, must not engage in any services related to overseas employment, work visas, or work permits.
She emphasized that only agencies registered under the Emigration Act, 1983, with a valid Recruiting Agent Certificate or Foreign Employer Permit, are legally authorized to offer such services in India.
The District Magistrate further instructed PTPR-registered firms to immediately stop all advertisements and promotions related to employment abroad. Any violation of these directives will attract strict legal action under the Emigration Act, 1983.
She also urged citizens seeking overseas employment to verify the credentials of recruiting agents at www.emigrate.gov.in, and remain cautious of unauthorized firms falsely claiming to provide work-related services abroad.
Reiterating the seriousness of the matter, she warned that misleading publicity by PTPR-registered firms would result in legal consequences and called for complete compliance with the instructions issued.
