District Mohali Launches Punjab Road Cleanliness Mission

Ensuring Co-ordination at the District Level for effective implementation of Punjab Road Cleanliness Mission, the District Mohali has allocated dedicated stretches to the District Administration, GMADA and Municipal Corporation Officers for keeping these roads potholes and littering free.
      Chairing a maiden meeting of the officers involved in the Mission, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said that this mission aims to redefine governance through accountability, citizen trust, and visible transformation, ensuring clean, well-lit, and well-maintained roads as arteries of various cities and towns falling in the district. The objective is to ensure high standards of road maintenance, cleanliness, and civic infrastructure by assigning responsibility to Class-1 officers, she added.
       Stressing on need of two inspections in a week of their assigned road stretches, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal urged them to ensure timely pothole repairs, clear and visible road markings, safe and accessible footpaths, functional streetlights, regular waste collection and sanitation, and general cleanliness and civic upkeep.
      The officers to whom the roads have been assigned included CA GMADA, Commissioner Corporation, ADC (G), ADC (RD), SDMs of Kharar, Mohali and Derabassi, GMADA Estate Officers (Housing) and (Plots), All three ACAs of GMADA, Land Acquisition Offcer GMADA, Assistant Commissioner (G) of DC Office, Chief Engineer GMADA, Chief Engineer MC Mohali and Superintending Engineer GMADA. These officials have been requested to escalate unresolved issues to senior authorities with follow-up until closure.
      The Regional Transport Authority, SAS Nagar shall be responsible for overall coordination, data compilation, and facilitation of the mission’s objectives at the district level, added DC Mohali.
     She said that periodic review meetings will be held to assess the progress of the initiative besides discussing documented issues from inspections and their proposed resolution.
