A 30-member delegation from Town Municipal Council, Hosadurga, Karnataka visited the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today as part of an official study tour on Solid Waste Management (SWM) and the Swachh Bharat Mission.
The delegation comprised 23 elected council members, 5 nominated members, and 2 senior officials.
Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, along with Special Commissioner and Chief Engineer, warmly welcomed the delegation and made a detailed presentation on the city’s sanitation model. The team was taken through the best practices of Chandigarh under Swachh Bharat Mission, including door-to-door waste collection, source segregation, processing of wet and dry waste, material recovery facilities, and digital monitoring systems.
The delegation also visited key sanitation infrastructure sites including the Solid Waste Management Plant and Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) in Chandigarh to observe the model in action.
The visiting members appreciated the efforts of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh and expressed interest in implementing several of these innovative practices in their own municipality.
