Mohali achieves 100% COVID-19 Vaccination Target

Leading the State in COVID Vaccination, Mohali district becomes first in the State to inoculate its entire population above 18 years of age.
Mrs.Isha Kalia, DC Mohali informed that district was able to achieve this milestone in the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic because of the multipronged strategy that is being used by the district administration in corroboration with health department to motivate people to come forward for vaccination. The Deputy Commissioner thanked all doctors/officials of department of health for this remarkable achievement.
She said that apart from the regular (Permanent) Camps at all the Government health centres between 9 am and 3 pm, special provision of vaccination facility between 9 am to 7 pm was provided at the District Hospital Mohali. Vaccination facility was made available at all the government health facilities and some of the special centres during weekends as well.
Special initiative of Home vaccination named as Surakhya Di Home Delivery was extended to anybody who for any reason could not go to the health facilities. Temporary Camps were organised at public places like Radha Swami Satsang Bhawan, wards were covered through ward wise camp, mobile camps were organised in villages, RWAs, and all the Government departments.
Mrs. Kalia informed that rigorous monitoring of the vaccination coverage was done on daily basis by the district administration and health department.
Regular appeals were made to call people to come forward and get vaccinated through social media and other channels, daily schedules were also shared on the social media platforms and official website of the district administration Mohali. Daily calls were made to the people whose second dose was due through the call centre, information like when is their second dose due, which are the nearest COVID Vaccination Centers where they can get Jabbed etc were being provided.
A total number of 815168 people were eligible for vaccination in the district and the same number of people had been immunised as of 24.03.2022, while the number of first doses administered has reached 1123184, taking the coverage to 137.79%.
“We are proud to have vaccinated 100% of the eligible population of our district and a sizeable population of the tricity as well,” said Mr.Himanshu Aggarwal, IAS, ADC (D) cum Nodal Officer Vaccination (Mohali).
Focussed effort is being made to vaccinate people of 15-17 age group and 12-14 age group. At present 74% of 15-17 age group has been vaccinated with at least first dose of vaccination, said deputy commissioner Isha Kalia
