Punjab launches Breast Cancer AI-Digital project

To detect breast cancer in the earlier stage, the Director Health Services (Family Welfare) Dr. Ranjit Singh Ghotra launched the Punjab Breast Cancer AI-Digital project across the state. Speaking at the launch event held at District Hospital in Mohali, Dr Ghotra said that the department of health and family welfare Punjab and Roche Products India and Niramai Health Analytix had recently inked an MOU for accelerating cancer screening and treatment for breast cancer in the state of Punjab.
         He said the partnership named 'Punjab Breast Cancer AI-Digital project" will focus on efforts to ensure timely identification, treatment initiation and robust referral pathways across the various government health institutes through technology enabled digital live patient tracking support. He further said that a total of 15,000 screenings of suspected females are targeted to be carried out in a span of one year. Dr Ghotra added that Punjab is the first state in India to launch this unique project. In this direction, breast cancer screening will be held at various government health institutions across the state and firstly such screenings are being organized in Mohali district. He said that the implementation of this project would be of great benefit to the needy women as they would be able to get free digital check ups in government health institutions across the state. Dr Ghotra said that this would immensely help down-staging the disease as early detection would lead to lower costs of the treatment as compared to patients that were diagnosed in later stages. The director appealed to the people of the state to avail maximum benefits of these free screenings. 
          Giving details, he said that these screening tests would be held at District Hospital Mohali from June 15 to June 22. Similarly, in Government Hospital, Kharar from 23rd to 28th June, from 29th to 4th July at Government Hospital at DeraBassi , from 5th to 6th July at Government Hospital in Lalru , from 7th to 8th July at Government Hospital in Banur , From July 9 to July 12 at Government Hospital Boothgarh , from July 13 to July 15 at Government Hospital in Gharuan and from July 16 to July 19 at Government Hospital Kurali.
          On this occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr Adarshpal Kaur, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr Renu Singh, Senior Medical officers Dr Vijay Bhagat, Dr H.S. Cheema, Dr Subhash Kumar, Dr Girish Dogra, Dr Vikrant Nagra, Dr. Micha Nussbaum, Chief Operating Officer, Roche Punjab & Chandigarh cluster Ruchi Gupta Health Systems Partner Roche, Somdev Upadhya Head Corporate Partnerships from Niramai , State Mass Media officer Jagtar Brar,Raj Rani and other officials were present.
