Another Milestone laid by Punjab Civil Secretariat Sports Club

6 boys from Punjab Civil Secretariat got selected in the Volley Ball trials for All Indian Civil Services Championship


Chandigarh, September 16, 2021:

Punjab Government conducted trials of boys team for volleyball for the upcoming volley ball championship organized by Government of India, Central Civil Services Cultural and Sports Board. The trials were held at Sports Stadium, Sector 78, Mohali today. On this occasion trials were given by various teams working in Punjab Government departments. The boys team of Punjab Civil Secretariat also participated in these trials and 6 player of Secretariat have been selected for this championship.

Club President S. Mr. Bhupinder Singh and Finance Secretary Mr. Naveen Sharma told the media that Punjab Secretariat Cricket and Sports Club has been in existence since 2006. Recently, cricket, badminton and volleyball teams of Secretariat employees have also been formed which are practicing continuously. Today it is a matter of pride that 6 boys of the volleyball team of Punjab Civil Secretariat have succeeded in trials who will play All India Services matches in future. Similarly last week the Government of India, Central Civil Services Cultural and Sports Board conducted trials for boys and girls for badminton in which three girls were selected from the Punjab Civil Secretariat.

Chief Patron of the Club and Deputy Principal Secretary / Chief Minister. Gurinder Singh Sodhi congratulated the entire team and the club on the occasion. He said that under the able leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh the Punjab Civil Secretariat Cricket and Sports Club was being encouraged and financial grants were given to promote sports so that the employees of Punjab Government could contribute in sports besides their official duties. The patron of the club, S. Janak Singh said that it was for the first time in the history of the Secretariat that 3 girls for badminton and 6 boys for volleyball have been selected from the Secretariat. Punjab Secretariat Cricket and Sports Club Vice President Satish Kumar, General Secretary Neeraj Prabhakar, Press Secretary Gurpreet Singh and Joint Secretary Gurveer Singh were present on the occasion.
