Civil Surgeon Dr. Adarshpal Kaur and UDID Nodal officer Dr Vikrant Nagra have appealed to the applicants to visit the concerned government health institutions and get themselves examined by the specialist doctor and have their documents checked to get a Disability certificate.

Health officials said in a press note that as many as 2200 online applications for Unique Disability ID or Disability Certificate have been received by the district health department from across the district for a long time but the applications are pending due to non-appearance of applicants at government health facilities to pursue their cases. They said that such applicants could reach the Civil Hospitals of Mohali, Kharar and Dera Bassi so that their applications could be examined and their disability certificates could be issued at the earliest. They also said that if any applicant does not want to get their certificate for any reason, they can reject their application online.

The Civil Surgeon said that due to non-pursuance of these applicants in their cases, a large number of applications are not being processed. They said that applicants have been informed about this many times before by the department but in spite of this, these applicants were not pursuing their case in the hospitals. They informed that for this purpose, special UDID medical camps were organized in the district for generating and issuing Disability certificates but not many applicants visited these camps.

These special camps were held on May 20, 21, 27 and 28 at three government health institutions -namely Civil Hospital Mohali, Sub-Divisional Hospital Derabassi and Sub-Divisional Hospital in Kharar. Despite this, very few beneficiaries reached these camps. She said that the department has decided that these certificates would now be issued in these hospitals on every working day from 8 am to 2 pm. It is to be noted that these certificates are made free of cost and the doctor examines the applicant before issuing the certificate.
