Satinder Sartaj, Ranjit Bawa, Kulwinder Billa, Sunanda Sharma, Jordan Sandhu and other renowned singers to perform during Regional Saras Mela

Sangrur, October 03, 2022: With the purpose of making the people of Sangrur aware about the artworks of different parts of the country and the folk arts and traditional foods of different states, Regional Saras Mela is being organised at Local Ranbir College from October 8 to October 17. 
 
While divulging details, Deputy Commissioner Sangrur Jitendra Jorwal said that in order to further increase the footfall in the Saras Mela, the district administration has decided to organise cultural performances of renowned Punjabi singers in the evenings. He said that after a long time this fair was being organized at Sangrur for the residents of the district and it would be the first time that such a large number of renowned singers will appear on the stage of a Saras Mela.
 
Deputy Commissioner informed that Punjabi singer Kulwinder Billa will perform on October 8, Jordan Sandhu on October 9, Harjit Harman on October 10, Harbhajan Shera on October 11, Sunanda Sharma on October 12, Jaswinder Brar on October 13, Armaan Dhillon, Prabh Bains, Chet Singh, Jashan Inder, Sophia Inder, Basant Kur and Jassi Dhaliwal on October 14, while Ranjit Bawa on October 15 and Satinder Sartaj will perform on the stage of Saras Mela on October 16.
 
Jitendra Jorwal said that the students coming in school uniform and children below 3 years of age will get free entry in the Mela, while a ticket of Rs will be charged for the entry of children aged between 3 to 10 years. He added that an entry ticket of Rs 20 to be levied upon children above age of 10 and general public. He said that during the regional Saras Mela, people would be able to get information about the culture of Punjab as well as the lifestyle, clothing and food of other states of the country. He said that handicrafts made by artisans including toys, clothes, decorative items, furniture etc. will also be available for sale in the fair apart from different types of swings which will be installed as a means of entertainment for the people.
 
Earlier, during the review meeting with the administrative officials, the Deputy Commissioner instructed that all the preparations for the Saras Mela should be completed on time. He said that special attention should be given to safety and cleanliness and a strict vigil should be kept on all necessary aspects during the preparation of the Pandal itself.
 
On this occasion, besides others, Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Varjit Walia, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, SDM Sangrur Navreet Kaur Sekhon, SDM Dirba Rajesh Sharma, SDM Dhuri Amit Gupta, SDM Bhawanigarh Vaneet Kumar, SDM Sunam Jaspreet Singh, Assistant Commissioner Devdarshdeep Singh, Forest Officer Monika Yadav and Heads of various departments were also present.
