More than two hundred craftsmen from 17 states across the country will participate

The first Shilp Samagam will be organized in the Amritsar city from 12th January under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, National Schedule Castes Finance and Development Corporation, National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation, Government of India, National Safai Karmachari Finance and Development Corporation, Government of India
While talking to the journalists today, Suresh Kumar Sharma, General Manager, Sanjay Kumar Sharma, Senior Manager and Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Manager from Ministry of Social Justice And Empowerment Government of India said that the Hon'ble Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Ramdas Athawale along with other dignitaries will formally inaugurate the fair on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 3.45 pm.
Departmental officials said that after the successful organization of Shilp Samagam in different cities of the Country, now a 10-days Shilp Samagam Mela is being organized from January 12, 2024 at Ranjit Avenue Ground in Amritsar which is known as religious, cultural and historical city of Punjab State. Entry is free in Shilp Samagam. This fair will be organised till January 21 through the Apex Corporations of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. Based on the basic Mantra of Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas', the objective of this fair is to provide a big platform to 200 beneficiaries of Scheduled Caste, Backward Classes and Safai Karamcharis of Apex Corporations from 17 States to showcase as well as sell their products.
Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, through its apex corporations since the year 2001 has been organizing such exhibitions and providing marketing platform to the beneficiaries of scheduled caste, backward class and sanitation workers receiving loan assistance.
They said that Major products of the fair include handloom and handicraft products made up of metal, wood and brass, Khadi, organic products, dress material, leather products, garden prints, Artificial flowers, bamboo and cane products, pickles, khakhra, phulkari work, chikan work products, Rajasthani shoes, Banarasi Sarees etc.
At the same time, one can enjoy the taste of delicious cuisines from all over the country at the fair. Colorful cultural programs will also be organized every evening. There is an expectation of an increased influx of domestic and international tourists at the major tourist destination of Punjab, ''Amritsar''.
